Letters of Support...

Los Angeles Unified School District
Board of Education, District I

February 1, 2001
Dear Gentlepersons:

It is with great enthusiasm and confidence in its ability that I recommend the African American Parent/Community Coalition for Educational Equity, Inc. (AAP/CCEE) for grant consideration by your organization. I have known of this group’s efforts to bring real reform to public education since its inception. I have watched the group gain knowledge and skill in the areas of parent training and advocacy around issues of access and equity for all students in public schools. The hallmark of the group is the ability to provide training to parents, and other community groups on how to navigate LEAs. They assist those groups to develop partnerships with schools that are collaborative and positive in the interest of children…

Genethia Hudley-Hayes, Ph.D.
Former President, Member District 1

Letter of Support

January 29, 2001
To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing this letter on behalf of the African American Parent/Community Coalition for Educational Equity, an organization whose work has positively impacted the lives of countless students in the Los Angeles Unified School District.

Members of the Coalition have been actively involved in The Achievement Council's Parent Empowerment component, our Data Inquiry Initiative, and our work in the Venice/Westchester cluster's (recently renamed Local District D of the LAUSD) K-16 Collaborative to create a cluster-wide college-going culture...

We at The Achievement Council are excited to learn of the Coalition's move toward parent leadership development, and arc confident that the Coalition will provide parents with training that will result in increased parent involvement and communication between the school and the community.

We look forward to continued collaborative work with the AAPCEE.

Phyllis Hart
Executive Director.

To Whom It May Concern:

It is my great pleasure to recommend the African American Parent/Community Coalition for Educational Equity. Inc. (AAP/CCEE) for grant consideration by your organization. I have known the leadership of AAP/CCEE for over two years and we at Corridor Economic Development Corporation are impressed with the quality of parent training that they have provided to residents of our housing developments. They are very professional and skillful in training and assisting parents to navigate the very difficult process of getting services for their children from the school districts. I am especially impressed with their commitment and bi-lingual, multi-cultural skills necessary to aid diverse communities.

We highly recommend AAP/CCEE for grant funding from your organization.

Sincerely yours,
Sharon Sumpter
Executive Director
