Statement of Need...

According to the National Dropout Prevention Center, teen pregnancy accounts for 50% of all female high school dropouts. Two additional risk factors for Hispanic students are immigration status and English speaking ability. Continued truancy contributes to the dropout rate because children who dont come to school fall behind in their schoolwork, and often lose interest, become discouraged, and dropout.

In providing alternative solutions, intervention, mediation and higher standards for our youth, AAP/CCEE has taken on the undaunted task of holding educational institutions accountable for providing all youth with equitable educational opportunities; setting and achieving high academic standards; and making systemic change an inclusionary process that embraces youth, parental and community input.

As long as the public school system continues to function at a level that produces undereducated, underdeveloped, and unprepared youth, then we, as the community, must do whatever it takes to reverse and improve on these norms, practices and policies. Our immediate goals are to remediate and prevent the prevalent lack of quality education commonly associated with youth from economically challenged communities.

AAP/CCEE has the knowledge and hands-on experience to meet these challenges. Our level of commitment to the cause and the problems associated with it is demonstrated in the goals and objectives of our organization; the quality of services provided; our experienced staff; and the positive impact we have on each child, family, community and school we have worked with.

However, with the growing financial demands placed on our small grassroots organization, there is a need for us to turn to other resources for support.

We hope you will become a partner in this program geared at improving the lives of our youth with your financial support through a grant that will advance our cause. Your contribution will help produce a community of positive and productive youth, adults, and families.
