| Youth Leadership Institute... AAP/CCEE has learned through years of experience that no matter how hard you try, sometimes situations just will not change. This is the case for some of our youth. We have gone before administrations on behalf of youth, wrongly accused and unfairly treated, with no parental or guardian representation. It is because of instances like these, and to strengthen the academic infrastructure that we believe it is a necessity to involve youth in the systemic change of the educational institution. Providing youth with the knowledge, skills and interest in making changes in their school, communities, and environment will ensure long term changes that will prove beneficial as each generation passes. Our goal is to provide middle and high school youth with organizing and advocacy skills so that they can mobilize and bring about change collectively. Our hope is that they will spread the knowledge among their peer groups, families and communities—creating a network of informed and responsible youth who demand excellence and high standards in their schools. The Youth Leadership Institute is a series of workshops presented to youth covering:
Youth will define issues that affect them both short-term and long-term, and create methods of addressing the issues. This leadership training institute will provide youth with leadership and organizing skills that will benefit them throughout their lifetime. |
